Each price averages the latest listing at every sampled location that carried it, weighted equally per location. The dataset also has a 'Base' French Fries listing with no size named; it averaged $3.55, the same as Small, and is not shown as a separate size. Delivery fees, service fees and tax are not included.
What each size step costs
Moving up a size costs less at the second step than the first in this sample. Without verified serving weights, these figures describe price only, not value per gram.
- Small to Medium+$1.13$4.68 − $3.55, delivery avg.
- Medium to Large+$0.85$5.53 − $4.68, delivery avg.
- Small to Large+$1.98$5.53 − $3.55, delivery avg.
Serving weights for each size appear on the official U.S. product pages. We have not yet recorded them with a check date, so this page does not calculate price per ounce. When those figures are added to the shared dataset, a per-weight comparison will appear here.
Two-fry listings vs ordering two singles
Some sampled menus listed fries in pairs. Both pair listings averaged less than two single orders of the same size.
Each Medium in the pair averaged $3.38, which is below the $3.55 single Small average.
Each Large in the pair averaged about $4.46, which is below the $4.68 single Medium average.
The pair listings and the single-size listings may not come from the same set of restaurants. A pair listing that only some locations carry can average lower or higher for reasons unrelated to the deal itself. Treat these differences as a pattern in the sample, not a guaranteed saving. Check your restaurant's menu in the official app before ordering.
Fries in McNuggets bundles
20-piece McNuggets for sharingSeveral sharing listings pair McNuggets with fries. They are shown here so you can see the fries side of the bundle math.
| Listing | Fries included | Type | Price | Status |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| 20 pc. Chicken McNuggets & 2 Medium Fries | 2 × Medium | Bundle | $16.66 | Observed |
| 20 pc. Chicken McNuggets & Basket of Fries | Basket | Bundle | $13.11 | Observed |
| 40 pc. Chicken McNuggets & 2 Large Fries | 2 × Large | Bundle | $26.02 | Observed |
| 40 pc. Chicken McNuggets & 4 Medium Fries | 4 × Medium | Bundle | $23.89 | Observed |
| 40 pc. Chicken McNuggets & 2 Medium Fries | 2 × Medium | Bundle | $15.59 | Anomaly |

The 40 pc. & 2 Medium Fries average ($15.59) is lower than the 40 pc. McNuggets alone ($18.25). That is likely a sampling or listing quirk, so it is flagged rather than used in any calculation.
The bundle averaged $0.66 less than the two separate listings. Compared with two single Medium fries ($10.56 + $9.36 = $19.92), it averaged $3.26 less. Both comparisons carry the location caveat above.
Nutrition, ingredients and allergens
Calories, ingredients and allergens for fries appear here only after we take them from official U.S. McDonald's pages and record a check date. That record is not complete yet.

We have not yet recorded McDonald's U.S. ingredient and allergen statement for fries. Do not assume fries are free of any allergen because they are a potato item. The official product page lists ingredients and allergens. It also explains cross-contact risks from shared fryers and kitchen equipment, and those risks vary by restaurant. If you have a food allergy, read the current official statement and ask the restaurant before ordering.

Fries in combo meals and Happy Meals
Most meals in the dataset come as Medium and Large versions. Fries are one of the parts that change size, so a meal's Large upcharge is the closest observed figure for upsizing fries inside a meal.
Combo meals
A combo meal pairs an entrée with fries and a drink. On sampled delivery menus, upgrading a Big Mac Meal from Medium ($11.77) to Large ($12.91) added $1.14. A McDouble Meal added $0.60 ($8.04 to $8.64). For comparison, the single-order step from Medium to Large fries was $0.85. The upcharge covers the larger drink too, so it does not isolate the fries.
Happy Meals
Happy Meals come with a kids' side and a drink. Observed delivery averages were $6.21 for a Hamburger Happy Meal, $6.58 for a Cheeseburger Happy Meal and $6.83 for a 4 pc. McNuggets Happy Meal. We have not recorded which fries size comes in a Happy Meal or what substitutions are allowed, so this page does not price the fries portion.
Fries questions
How much are Medium fries at McDonald's?
Medium fries averaged $4.68 on DoorDash delivery menus at sampled U.S. locations, Aug 19–Sep 29, 2026. Your restaurant's in-store or app price may be different.
Is the 2 Medium Fries listing cheaper than two Mediums?
In this sample, yes. The pair averaged $6.76, compared with $9.36 for two single Medium orders. The two listings may not come from the same restaurants, so check your local menu.

How many calories are in McDonald's fries?
We have not yet recorded official calorie figures by size with a check date, so none are shown here. The official U.S. product page lists nutrition for each size.
Why are these prices higher than at my restaurant?
These are delivery-menu listings, which often carry higher prices than in-store menus. Fees and tax are not included. The pricing methodology explains how the sample works.
