Short answer
McDonald's answers breakfast-hours questions on its official U.S. breakfast FAQ, which directs customers to check with their local restaurant. Hours are not uniform across the roughly franchise-run U.S. system. Two restaurants in the same town can stop serving breakfast at different times.
You will often see times like 10:30 a.m. on weekdays and 11:00 a.m. on weekends repeated online. Treat those as common patterns, not a rule. We have not verified them as a current nationwide policy, and many restaurants set their own schedule.
We have not recorded a dated, word-for-word copy of the official FAQ answer, so we do not quote it here. Read the current wording on the official McDonald's U.S. breakfast FAQ before relying on any specific time.
If a cutoff matters to you, for example to catch an Egg McMuffin on a weekend, check the specific restaurant the same day. Holiday and staffing changes can shift posted hours.
How to check a specific restaurant
The official tools show restaurant-level information. Neither this site nor any third-party list can tell you a store's live breakfast window.
Using the restaurant locator
- Open the official locatorGo to the McDonald's U.S. restaurant locator and search by address, city or ZIP code.
- Select the restaurantOpen its detail view to see listed hours and services such as drive-thru.
- Look for breakfast or service hoursWhere shown, these are the restaurant's own posted hours. If breakfast hours are not listed, call the restaurant.
Using the McDonald's app
- Choose your restaurant firstThe app menu depends on the selected location.
- Open the menu near the cutoffBreakfast items appear only while that restaurant is serving them. If they have disappeared, breakfast has ended there.
- Check the Deals tab separatelyBreakfast offers can have their own time limits. See our guide to app ordering and MyMcDonald's Rewards.
Exceptions and history
Weekends
Some restaurants run breakfast later on Saturday and Sunday than on weekdays. This is a common practice, not a guarantee. Confirm the weekend schedule for your location.
24-hour restaurants
Restaurants open around the clock still switch between breakfast and the regular menu. Some begin breakfast in the early morning hours. The changeover time varies by location. For overnight and drive-thru hours, see McDonald's restaurant, drive-thru and lunch-service hours.
All-day breakfast
McDonald's introduced all-day breakfast across the U.S. in October 2015. In March 2020, early in the COVID-19 pandemic, it was paused to simplify kitchen operations. Since then, breakfast has generally been served during a morning window. We have not confirmed any current national all-day program.
The 2015 launch and 2020 pause were announced by McDonald's and widely reported at the time. We have not yet archived the primary announcements with check dates. If you see a restaurant offering breakfast items later in the day, treat it as that restaurant's choice, not a national policy.
Delivery-app cutoffs may differ
Delivery platforms list each restaurant's menu on their own schedule. The breakfast menu may close on a delivery app before it closes at the counter. Prep and courier time can also mean an order placed just before the cutoff is refused or changed. The app or delivery platform will show what is still orderable at that moment.
Our price data comes from DoorDash delivery listings across sampled U.S. locations, observed Aug 19–Sep 29, 2026. Breakfast items did appear on those menus during breakfast hours. For example, Hash Browns averaged $3.26 and the Egg McMuffin averaged $6.13. Those listings are not in-store prices, and they say nothing about a store's cutoff time. Full figures are on the breakfast menu prices page, the hash browns page and the breakfast deals and bundles page.
