McDonald's Delivery Prices vs In-Store: How to Read Our Price Data

Every current price on this site is an average of DoorDash delivery-menu listings from sampled U.S. McDonald's locations, observed Aug 19–Sep 29, 2026. These are not in-store prices or national prices. Your counter, drive-thru or app price can differ, and only your restaurant can confirm it.

Short answer

A figure such as $7.45 for a Big Mac means one thing: we took the latest Big Mac listing at each sampled location on the DoorDash delivery menu and averaged them, giving each location equal weight. It is not what a particular restaurant charges at the counter. It is also not an official McDonald's price, and it does not describe the whole country.

The figures are still useful. All of them come from the same channel and the same observation window, so you can compare items with each other on a like-for-like basis. You can see how a Large meal compares with a Medium, or how a 20-piece box compares with a 10-piece. What they cannot tell you is the exact amount on your receipt.

What the dataset states about itself

The dataset covers 393 menu listings. It gives DoorDash delivery-menu prices, presumed to be in USD, averaged from the latest recorded price at each available location with equal weight per location. Data was observed Aug 19–Sep 29, 2026, and some items were last observed in August. Sizes and options are averaged separately. Where a listing had no explicit size, it is labeled “Base.”

What the averages leave out

A delivery-menu listing is the item price shown before checkout. The figures on this site therefore exclude several things that change what you actually pay:

  • Delivery and service fees. DoorDash adds these at checkout, separately from item prices. They are not in our dataset.
  • Tips. These are chosen by the customer and are never part of a menu price.
  • Sales tax. Tax rates depend on the location. Our figures are untaxed listing prices.
  • Promotions and app offers. Discounts, bundles redeemed through offers and rewards are not reflected in a regular listing price. We track offers separately on the deals page, by status, and we show only offers we have verified as current.
  • In-store and drive-thru prices. We have no counter or drive-thru observations. The dataset contains delivery listings only.
Editorial note

You may see claims that delivery menus are marked up by some fixed percentage. We do not publish a markup figure. Calculating one would need in-store prices from the same restaurants on the same dates, and we do not have that evidence. Any percentage we printed would be invented.

Meal prices are listing prices too

A meal row shows the delivery listing for that meal. It is not a calculation built from separate items. Here is the arithmetic for one example, from the same channel and window:

CalculationBig Mac Meal, Medium: $11.77 average delivery listingBig Mac, sandwich only: $7.45 average delivery listing$11.77 − $7.45 = $4.32

In this sample, a Medium meal listed for $4.32 more than the Big Mac alone.

This shows how the two listings relate on DoorDash. It does not tell you the difference at a counter.

Why delivery menus include regional items and odd listings

A delivery menu is assembled restaurant by restaurant. When you pool listings from many locations, you also collect items that only some of those restaurants carry. You also inherit any data-entry quirks in individual listings. We keep these items in the dataset rather than cleaning them out silently, and we flag them in the tables.

Items seen only at some locations

Several listings have names that suggest a local or team-themed menu. Examples include the Denali Mac, McTeri Deluxe, Spam Rice & Egg, Sausage Portuguese Rice, Haupia Pie, Green Chile Double Cheese, and team-branded listings such as the Seattle Seahawks Quarter Pounder with Cheese Meal, the New York Jets Pack and Braves Frozen Fanta. Where these items are sold is our interpretation from their names. We have not confirmed it against official sources, so the tables mark them as regional or limited rather than as national menu items.

Listings that do not behave as expected

Examples of anomalies in the delivery sampleAverage DoorDash delivery listing, sampled U.S. locations, Aug 19–Sep 29, 2026
ListingVariant / sizePriceWhat looks odd
Reduced Sugar Berry Blast with Sprite Zero SugarSmall$51.60The source notes that one location listed $99.00 for every size. That value is still inside the average, so the average is not usable as a typical price.
40 pc. Chicken McNuggets & 2 Medium FriesBundle$15.59This is below the $18.25 average for the 40 pc. box alone, and probably reflects a different mix of locations or a promotional listing.
Pumpkin LatteSmall$4.79This is higher than the Medium at $3.99, which suggests the sizes were listed at different sets of locations.
Sausage McGriddle / Sausage McGriddlesSandwich$5.29 / $4.52Two names appear for what is probably one item, and each name was averaged separately.
Ketchup PacketPacket$0.09Some delivery menus list a price for condiments. In-store practice may differ.

These anomalies are kept as recorded and flagged in the tables. We do not replace them with estimates. Our methodology explains how outliers are labeled and why ranges are not built from mismatched observations.

One more pattern to know about: for most meals, the dataset's “Base” price equals its “Medium” price. That is consistent with Medium being the default meal size on these listings. We present it as an observation from the data, not as an official rule.

How to check the price at your own restaurant

Only the restaurant you order from can give you its current price. We do not offer a ZIP-code lookup, because we have no live, location-level price data to support one.

  1. Find your restaurantUse the official McDonald's restaurant locator to confirm the location, its hours and the services it offers.
  2. Open the official app and select that restaurantMenu prices in the app are tied to the restaurant you choose. Pick the specific location before you read any price.
  3. Compare the same item and sizeCheck that the size or meal type matches the row on our site, such as Medium meal versus sandwich only, before you compare numbers.
  4. Check offers separatelyApp deals and rewards change what you pay but not the menu price. Our app and MyMcDonald's Rewards guide explains how they work.
  5. For delivery, read the checkout screenFees, tax and tip appear only at checkout. Treat the item listing as one part of the total, not the total.

Good uses for this data

  • Browse typical delivery listing prices by category on the full menu price table.
  • Compare items side by side with the comparison tool. It shows observation context and computes value figures only when observations are compatible.
  • Read the pricing methodology for the averaging method, outlier handling and how per-piece figures are calculated.
  • Browse related topics in the ordering guides.

Questions about the price data

Is a delivery price always higher than the in-store price?

We cannot say. Answering that would require in-store prices from the same restaurants on the same dates, and our dataset has only delivery listings. Check both prices at your own restaurant.

Why does an item show one price when my restaurant charges another?

Each figure is an average across sampled locations, so few restaurants will match it exactly. Prices also vary by location and ordering channel, and they can change after the observation window ended on Sep 29, 2026.

Do your prices include DoorDash fees?

No. They are item listing prices before delivery fees, service fees, tax and tip.

Are deals reflected in these prices?

No. Regular listings and promotions are kept separate. Offers appear on the deals page with a current, scheduled, expired or unverified status.
